About The Imitator – Julián Fontalvo
The Imitator is a one-person musical theatre show in which singer and actor Julián Fontalvo uses music as the key to trigger memory. Songs once important in his life carry him back to his childhood in South America, then through struggles in New York and Europe as he pursues his dream of becoming an artist. Along the way he portrays different characters from his story and imitates 70 artists including Sting, Bob Marley, Bowie, Amy Winehouse and Tina Turner. Running 60 minutes at Assembly Checkpoint, with age guidance 5+.
Why see this show?
Seventy vocal impressions woven into a genuine personal story — not a novelty act but a narrative built around what those voices meant to the person performing them. The autobiographical shape gives the mimicry real emotional stakes.
