The Horse of Jenin is a 70-minute theatre show written and performed by Palestinian comedian and actor Alaa Shehada, presented by Palestine Comedy Club and The Pleasance, produced by Troupe Courage. Blending storytelling, mask work and stand-up, it follows the life of a boy growing up in Jenin, Occupied Palestine, who just wants to play. After a 2002 invasion, local children and a German artist built a five-metre horse from debris — a symbol of freedom and resistance. Destroyed in 2023, the show asks what became of it and rebuilds it on stage from fragments of memory, loss and hope.
