What stories must we tell to offer ourselves and our children the best possible future? This prequel to the Icarus myth takes us on a journey in, through and to the centre of a labyrinth. As we journey, we hear the mythical story of Icarus told through the eyes of a woman enslaved in her youth. She explores what happens when an unfathered father has a son and invites us to interrogate the stories we are told, offering an opportunity to look at how they shape our future and give weight to the past.

About Another Disaporan

Another Disaporan presents this theatre piece — a prequel to the Icarus myth — that takes audiences on a journey in, through and to the centre of a labyrinth. The mythical story of Icarus is told through the eyes of a woman enslaved in her youth, who explores what happens when an unfathered father has a son. The piece invites audiences to interrogate the stories we are told, examining how those stories shape our future and give weight to the past. The show runs for 45 minutes at studio, is suitable for ages 14 and over, and features storytelling and adaptation. Tickets start from £8.

Why see this show?

A rare retelling that places a marginalised woman's perspective at the heart of one of mythology's most familiar stories. Intimate, thought-provoking and formally rooted in the labyrinth itself — both as structure and metaphor.
