Tango in Silk is an original ballroom duet by Xi Liu from China and the UK, inspired by the golden age of Shanghai in the nineteen-thirties. The piece blends the elegance of Chinese Cheongsam culture with the passion and drama of Argentine tango, set to the music of Carlos Gardel's Por Una Cabeza. Through dramatic partnering, musicality and movement, the duet explores cross-cultural themes of tension, tenderness and transformation. A fusion soundtrack combines traditional Chinese instruments with tango rhythms in a poetic and emotionally charged journey across cultural borders. The performance runs just 5 minutes.
