About the show
Strangers and Revelations is the debut play by Zimbabwean playwright Chiedza Rwodzi, produced by Unshaded Arts. The play follows Zodwa and Malcolm, two Zimbabweans in London who meet for their first date at Malcolm's house. They size each other up, connecting and debating over shared cultural understandings and experiences, until they begin uncovering deep, staggering truths about each other. The play is described as a striking and provocative exploration of relationships between men and women, mythology and trauma, examined through an African lens.
Why see this show?
A boldly intimate debut that strips two characters down to their hidden depths. Rwodzi's exploration of mythology, trauma and cultural identity makes for theatre that is genuinely provocative, surprising the audience as much as it surprises its characters.
