About Mark Bleakley
Stepping In... Spilling Out is a dance and music work by Mark Bleakley in collaboration with French percussionist Rémy Gouffault, performed at DB 3 during Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The piece traces the personal history of Mark's dance practice through the act of stepping — the people, communities, histories, and politics that have shaped his movement. Beginning on an oversized drawing of his family home carpet, the work moves through parties, protests, rituals, mosh pits, and gas clouds. Running 50 minutes, rated 12+, it features audience participation and live drumming.
Why see this show?
A personal and political dance work that moves through a whole landscape of stepping — from family carpets to mosh pits to protests. The live percussion from Rémy Gouffault gives it real physical energy, and the starting point of a family home carpet makes it unexpectedly intimate.
