Gerry McDonald and John Kitchen perform virtuoso works for recorder with continuo and obbligato harpsichord by Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann and Corelli — works that also exist in alternative versions. The programme explores the art of arranging: Telemann's idiomatic alternative instrumentations, the cottage industry of arranging Italian violin sonatas for recorder, and Bach's extraordinary recycling of his own music. The concert features the 1709 Barton harpsichord. Historical instruments will not be amplified. Running time is 60 minutes at The Concert Room, age guidance 5+.
