About Apolline Khou
Sounds of St Cecilia's I: Clair-Obscur is a harpsichord recital by Apolline Khou bringing together works by Marin Marais, Silvius Leopold Weiss and J.S. Bach — three composers admired as virtuosos of viol, lute, and keyboard respectively. The programme pairs darkness and melancholy with moments of brightness and serenity. Alongside Bach's keyboard suites, Khou has adapted pieces by Marais and Weiss for harpsichord. Performed at The Concert Room over 60 minutes, the concert is supported by the Keyboard Charitable Trust. Historical keyboard instruments will not be amplified.
Why see this show?
A rare chance to hear three Baroque masters in conversation through a single keyboard — Khou's adaptations of Marais and Weiss sit alongside Bach's own suites, creating an intimate programme of shadow and light. Suitable for curious listeners from age 5 upwards.
