'Am I ill, or am I well? Because I surely can’t be both.' So asks Poppy as her blistering poetry combined with frank stories from the wards questions everything we think we know about inpatient mental health care. Described as the 21st-century Sylvia Plath (NeurodiverseReview.co.uk), Poppy returns combining poetry, filmmaking and dramatic lecture to bring you into the confusion and pain of the sectioned. To expose what happens when the services get it wrong. With increasing deaths in hospitals each year, something has to change. Does Poppy have the answer?

About Poppy Radcliffe

Sectioned — Schrödinger's Mental Health is a free spoken word and poetry show by Poppy Radcliffe, performed at Little Cellar. Through blistering poetry, frank stories from psychiatric wards, filmmaking and dramatic lecture, Poppy interrogates what we think we know about inpatient mental health care — asking whether she is ill or well, and whether it is possible to be both. The show exposes what happens when mental health services get things wrong, and reflects on the increasing deaths in hospitals each year. Running 60 minutes, it is suitable for audiences aged 18 and over.

Why see this show?

A raw, formally inventive show that combines poetry, filmmaking and lecture to take audiences inside the experience of being sectioned. Urgent and personal, it asks the questions that mental health discourse too often sidesteps.
