Rooting is a free exhibition presented by Heritage Collections at the Exhibition Gallery during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Using the University's art collection — spanning three hundred and fifty years — as its focus, the exhibition brings together historic and contemporary artworks by 30 different artists around themes of environment and ecology. Taking inspiration from rooting — searching, growth, beginnings, interconnectedness — it invites visitors to consider entangled stories of art, extractive histories and nature. Delivered in collaboration with the University's Department for Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
