Roadkill Bambi is a queer new-writing theatre piece from Mal MacKenzie and The Blue Loop Group, performed at Theatre 3 as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Portia and Alison are driving home from a wedding when they hit a deer and Portia dies — then the loop begins again. Forced to relive the car accident over and over, Portia must confront uncomfortable truths about her relationship while trying to escape the surreal time loop. The deer gives a philosophy lecture. Described as a thoroughly queer dirge for the imagined future, the show runs for 60 minutes and is suitable for those aged 16 and over.
Why see this show?
A surreal, looping queer drama that uses a car accident as the engine for something much stranger and more emotionally direct. Roadkill Bambi at Theatre 3 asks hard questions about relationships and decision-making from inside a very unusual structure.
