Rhapsody in Blue – Jazz Sessions by Candlelight is a sixty-minute concert from Moonlight, in which pianist-conductor Matthew Shiel leads his jazz band through blues, Berlin cabaret, ragtime and New York jazz piano improvisation with storytelling — performed by candlelight at St Vincent's. The programme includes Joplin's The Entertainer, Brubeck's Take Five, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, and cabaret music by the Jewish composer Erwin Schulhoff, who was murdered by the Third Reich for the "crime" of composing jazz.
