National Galleries of Scotland presents Resistance at Modern Two, an exhibition curated by artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen. The exhibition explores how acts of resistance have shaped life in the UK and the powerful role of photography in documenting and driving change. It brings together works by photographers including Vanley Burke, John Deakin, Fay Godwin, Edith Tudor-Hart, David Hurn, Tish Murtha, Humphrey Spender and Paul Trevor, drawn from various archives, collections and image libraries. The exhibition deliberately focuses on moments captured before digital cameras became commonplace.
Why see this show?
A photography exhibition curated by Steve McQueen that spans many decades of resistance and social change in the UK. The focus on pre-digital photography — and the breadth of photographers and archives represented — makes this a substantial and considered show.
