About the show

Just Bcoz Productions presents Refuse, a BBC Radio 4 shortlisted drama following Maks, a refuse worker collecting bins week in, week out around his neighbourhood. Along his route he meets the Pavlenkos, Yelena and his wife Valentyna, in a story set in Ukraine — not as audiences might expect, but as a place of ordinary life suddenly shattered by war. Inspired by the bravery of Ukrainian refuse workers who risked their lives when war struck their city, the play questions what it means to live in a community and lose it overnight. 50% of all profits will be donated to rebuilding Ukrainian homes.
