About Gritty Gaze
Placebo is a new writing theatrical work by Gritty Gaze, performed at the Studio venue. Drawing on the concept of the placebo — a sugar pill, a sham injection or an empty procedure dressed as a cure — the show explores how belief can heal, deceive and manipulate. In a world coming undone, a character named Stoner has nothing left but belief, a state fuelled by trust and dependent on perception. Powerful when upheld and devastating when exposed, the show asks: when the mirage shatters, what remains? Running 45 minutes, suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.
Why see this show?
An intellectually sharp piece of new writing that uses the placebo as a lens on faith, trust and survival. The puppetry form adds an unsettling layer to an already disquieting premise.
