About Mamoru Iriguchi
PAINKILLERS is a performance art and dark comedy show by Mamoru Iriguchi at the Anatomy Lecture Theatre, Summerhall. Mamoru, a magician's assistant who enjoys her large knitted body, is at the mercy of knives, saws and guns both on and off stage. The show delves into physical and emotional pain through magic tricks and romantic memories, weaving together themes of gender, showbiz, and vulnerability. Two audience volunteers will be sought — one remaining seated, one invited on stage. Contains scenes of a sexual nature and scenes of violence. For ages 16 and over.
Why see this show?
A show that refuses easy categories — part magic act, part meditation on pain and identity, shot through with offbeat humour and visual wit. Mamoru Iriguchi creates work that stays with you.
