About The French Broad
Midnight in Nashville is a new writing theatre show with live music performed at Playground 1 during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, by The French Broad. Country singer Marcy Aurora is out of prison after 20 years for murder and ready for a comeback. Back in the studio recording a new album, she is angry, searching for her voice and not taking any prisoners. The show is a nearly solo performance with live songs, written and directed by Lee Papa and starring Biz Lyon, a Kentucky-born, London-based performer.
Why see this show?
A country singer emerging from 20 years inside, trying to make music again — the premise is rich and the live songs make it feel immediate rather than simply theatrical. Lee Papa's writing and Biz Lyon's performance promise a show with real grit.
