About the show
Mary's Daughters is a 50-minute feminist ghost story from BiLLO Studio, performed at Big (Thrust) at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The play reunites three historical figures centuries after their deaths: Mary Wollstonecraft, her daughter Mary Shelley, and Fanny Imlay. Together they reckon with their wounds, their writing and their legacy through history. The show includes the birth of a famous monster on the shores of Lake Geneva and frames radical kindness as a call to arms. Contains strong language and distressing themes; suitable for ages 16 and above.
Why see this show?
A rare piece of new writing that gives voice to three significant women from history as they face each other — and themselves — with honesty and anger. The feminist ghost story framing is imaginative and the material has genuine weight.
