About the show
Ragana Productions presents Inertia, a new drama set in early nineties Eastern Europe in the aftermath of the Soviet Union's collapse. Inspired by the life fragments and memories of the playwright's Lithuanian grandmother, the play follows Frida, a woman bound by the weight of an abusive past, as she navigates the fractures of love, motherhood and survival. Through brutalist realism and dreamlike sequences, it unearths generational trauma, resilience and the silent forces of a Soviet Union hangover — an ode to peace and womanhood.
Why see this show?
A deeply personal piece of new writing rooted in real memory, Inertia weaves together brutalist realism and dreamlike sequences to trace one woman's quiet suffering and gradually swelling rebellion. Thoughtful, affecting theatre for those drawn to stories of resilience.
