Paul Laverty studied philosophy in Rome and then law in Glasgow before travelling to Central America, where he spent almost three years working for a human rights organisation in Nicaragua. After that time, he made contact with director Ken Loach and the two have been close friends and collaborators ever since. Alongside producer Rebecca O'Brien, they have made 14 feature films together, ten of which have been in the official section of the Cannes film festival. The show runs for 60 minutes and is suitable for audiences aged 12 and over.
