Growing Pains is a comic look at the best and worst of the British education system. Tessa isn't built for much... A failed play at the Fringe, a sponging screen-writer for a partner and a bumbling middle-class persona hardly qualifies her as a teacher. But, finding herself with few alternatives, at 25 Tessa is tasked with inspiring the future. Her rag-tag GCSE drama group are more focused on Tessa's demise than their exams, but this year will be a year of learning for all. Mid-twenties angst is real and, with no answers, can Tessa really teach anyone anything?

About the show

Growing Pains is a comic look at the best and worst of the British education system, presented by Tip Top Theatre Collective at The Vault. Tessa, a bumbling middle-class woman with a failed Fringe play and a sponging screenwriter for a partner, finds herself with few alternatives and takes on the task of inspiring a rag-tag GCSE drama group. At 25, Tessa faces mid-twenties angst head-on as her students are more focused on her demise than their exams. The show runs for 85 minutes, costs £8 (concession £7), and is suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.

Why see this show?

A sharp comedy about the gap between good intentions and lived reality in education. Tessa's chaotic journey into teaching — and into herself — is both funny and surprisingly recognisable for anyone who has ever felt underprepared for the roles life hands them.
