Giselle: Remix is a 70-minute dance-theatre production from Patrick Bone and The Project People with Pleasance Theatre, performed at Forth at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show is a queer reimagining of the classical ballet, following a hopeless romantic who comes to terms with the reality of queer intimacy — a far cry from Hollywood's happy endings. It weaves ballet, the avant-garde and lip-sync cabaret together with an original soundscape. Created by Jack Sears, with choreography from Hannah Grennell of The Royal Ballet. Multiple content warnings apply; suitable for ages 16 and above.
Why see this show?
A genuinely ambitious dance-theatre hybrid that takes a familiar ballet and pushes it somewhere bold and queer. The combination of classical choreography, cabaret and a striking soundscape makes this one of the more distinctive shows on the programme.
