Luke is a young Scottish queer man living in London whose messy, chaotic life is about to implode. We meet him through a series of obscene, revealing, funny, profound, lost, chaotic questions. Questions of himself, co-workers, bar staff, therapists, cab drivers, dealers, dates and a tourist he meets while waiting for his date in a Minecraft version of the National Theatre. This is a staged reading of a brand-new play by James Ley (Wilf, Ode to Joy), directed by Tessa Walker.

About James Ley

First, Let Me Ask You Some Questions (WIP) is a staged reading of a brand-new play by James Ley, directed by Tessa Walker. It follows Luke, a young Scottish queer man living in London whose messy, chaotic life is about to implode. We meet him through a series of obscene, revealing, funny, profound, lost and chaotic questions — questions posed to himself, co-workers, bar staff, therapists, cab drivers, dealers, dates, and a tourist encountered while waiting in a Minecraft version of the National Theatre. Running for 60 minutes at Shedinburgh Fringe Festival, this is new writing at the work-in-progress stage.

Why see this show?

A bold, formally inventive piece of new writing that approaches a young man's unravelling life through the questions he asks of everyone around him. The staging in a Minecraft version of the National Theatre alone signals that this is something genuinely unusual worth catching early.
