It's 2000. The British military is changing. Marriage should be easy, but not when you're the Prince of England. And not when you're in the middle of war with France. And certainly not when you love him, not her, the woman you're supposed to be marrying. As the pair's commanding officer begins to suspect the truth and with the monarchy's expectations closing in, Edward must fight for love - but whose and at what cost? Fusing fact and fiction, this queer reimagining of Marlowe's classic play brings a new take on Britain's forgotten past and present.

About Bristol DramSoc

Edward (in Memoriam) is a new drama by Bristol DramSoc, running for 50 minutes at the Jade Studio. Set in the year 2000, it reimagines Marlowe's classic play as a queer story about Edward, the Prince of England, who is required to marry a woman whilst in love with another man. With Britain at war with France and a commanding officer growing suspicious, Edward must decide where his loyalties lie. The show contains strong language, scenes of violence, homophobically motivated abuse, and themes of misogyny throughout. Age guidance: 16 and over, tickets at £12.

Why see this show?

Bristol DramSoc's queer reimagining of Marlowe fuses historical fiction with urgent present-day resonance in a tight 50 minutes — a bold piece of new writing at the Jade Studio.
