About the show
Dreamscape is a theatre piece by Andy Jordan Productions and Hindsight Productions that reimagines the true story of Tyisha Miller, a young Californian woman shot dead by police as she lay unconscious in a car. The show blends beatboxing, spoken word and hip-hop dance. Tyisha's depiction of her life's innocent pleasures and hopes for the future is told with sweetness, humour and teenage insight, set against an autopsy report recited by a dispassionate coroner describing each of her twelve bullet wounds in clinical detail. The show runs 60 minutes and contains distressing themes. Suitable for ages 14 and above.
Why see this show?
A clear-eyed and formally inventive piece that holds the violence of Tyisha Miller's story alongside her humanity. The contrast between her voice and the clinical coroner's report makes this a striking and necessary piece of theatre.
