Down the Hole is a dark comedy written and performed by Ilja van Ravels, a student and youth company from the Netherlands and Germany, staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Juul, an anxious character plagued by compulsions, discovers a fetish for choking and retreats into a hole beneath a tree. Meanwhile Juul's mother Annette grows lonely and worried. Together, they unravel the messy and absurd lengths we go to in order to understand ourselves and each other.
