Celtic Django Project brings Django Reinhardt's Hot Club Jazz Meets Scottish Folk to the Partially Seated venue at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show is a vibrant project experimenting with gypsy jazz and Scottish and Irish folk influences, drawing from the treasure trove of Scotland's musical heritage. Paul Paterson, one of the UK's leading gypsy jazz guitarists, is joined by guitarist Jim Mackay, guitarist and author of The Scottish Guitar Book John Carnie, and gypsy jazz double bassist Charlotte Paterson. Both Paul Paterson and Charlotte Paterson have recently performed at the Django Reinhardt Festival in France.
Why see this show?
A genuinely original musical pairing — gypsy jazz's hot club swing meeting Celtic folk melody, played by musicians who have performed at the Django Reinhardt Festival itself. Warm, lively and unlike most things on the programme.
