About the show
Damn the Dark is a new theatre piece by Venus Rising Theatre, a student and youth company. Set in the seventies, the show follows five women navigating Soho's vibrant discotheque scene: Jean, a night-shift nurse; her sister Daphne, an aspiring housewife; Daphne's friend Layla, an ambitious journalist; Margot, a Gogo dancer; and Kim, a punk enthusiast. Amid rising violence and fear, the women unite through courage and activism, joining the Reclaim the Night march. The immersive production celebrates disco, punk and empowerment, inviting the audience to dance in solidarity with the characters.
