About the show
Bear is a new play by Coffee Cup Productions that intertwines fairytales and folklore with the viral Man vs Bear debate. A girl goes on a camping trip, is saved from a bear attack by a knight in shining armour, and is brought into a log cabin — until his true colours show. This two-hander, with Man and Bear played by the same actor, explores duality, manipulation and revenge, examining one of the most profound fears for women and the reasons why most would rather face the cruelty of an animal than a human. Performed at the Fern Studio over 50 minutes.
Why see this show?
A taut, thought-provoking thriller that uses fairytale structure to explore something deeply real. The dual-role performance is a bold theatrical choice, and the questions it raises linger well after the final scene.
