Asli is and has always been a Tomboy. Born in the 1980s, back when no one even knew they had pronouns to defend, Asli was already on her own gender-fluid journey, climbing trees and shunning skirts. As a teenager, things got complicated. As a TomAdult she now thinks she knows better than to kowtow to Instagram grooming levels. But does it have to be so... ahem... binary? Join her on this comedic coming-of-age gender journey. 'Enjoyable and illuminating' *** (One4Review.co.uk). 'Bold and hilarious relatable content delivered with the ease of a stand-up comedy veteran' ***** (TheFringeMinge.com).

About the show

Asli Akbay: Tomboy is a solo stand-up comedy show about growing up gender-fluid long before anyone had language for it. Born in the nineteen-eighties, Asli was climbing trees and shunning skirts when no one knew they had pronouns to defend. As a teenager things got complicated, and as an adult she now considers whether identity has to be quite so binary. A comedic coming-of-age gender journey, performed at the Globe as part of PBH's Free Fringe.

Why see this show?

Sharp, personal stand-up that doesn't need a gimmick — Asli Akbay's own story is funny and honest enough. A free show with something genuine to say about gender, growing up, and the gap between who you were and who you are.
