Anti-Gone is a semi-professional theatre production by Luna Peng, Lana Zhang, Zhi Qu and more, set in a rural Northern Chinese village in the nineteen-eighties on the final day of a three-day funeral. Chinese shadow puppetry collides with Greek tragedy as sisters clash over memory, mourning and revenge. Children interrupt, coffins speak and ghosts refuse to rest. Blending absurdist humour with haunting surrealism, this explosive reimagining is a reckoning with grief, family and resistance. The Saturday performance is in Mandarin Chinese. Running 55 minutes at Lime Studio.
Why see this show?
A genuinely original collision of theatrical traditions — Greek tragedy remade through Chinese shadow puppetry and dark comedy. Bold, strange and emotionally charged, this is the kind of work the Fringe was made for.
