Book NowAbout the show
Alright Sunshine is a 60-minute razor-sharp monologue from Edinburgh playwright Isla Cowan, presented at Jack Dome as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. When PC Nicky McCreadie responds to a mass brawl on Edinburgh's Meadows, she finds herself face-to-face with a past she'd rather forget. The play dissects gender, power and who owns public space. It is produced by Wonder Fools and supported by Tron Theatre. The show contains distressing themes including descriptions of domestic violence and sexual assault, and is suitable for ages 14 and over.
Why see this show?
A tightly written feminist monologue set in Edinburgh's own streets, Alright Sunshine puts a female police officer at the centre of something bigger than a brawl. Isla Cowan's writing goes straight for the questions about power and public space, and doesn't offer comfortable answers.
