What if Orpheus took a different deal? What if it all turned a bit differently, someone who could not bear to see their love pass on, in the process triggering something perhaps even more tragic than anyone could imagine. Orpheus is doomed to watch Eurydice die and reincarnate, falling in love over and over again. Eurydice is none the wiser, thinking she is falling in love with a mysterious stranger through some shenaniganry. The narrative jumps between time, telling of the journey our characters took and how we ended up here. Can Orpheus and Eurydice have a happy ending?

About the show

20/20 is a new writing theatre show by Queen Mary Theatre Company, a student and youth company, performed at Theatre 2 during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025. The show reimagines the Orpheus and Eurydice myth with a twist: Orpheus takes a different deal, and is doomed to watch Eurydice die and reincarnate, falling in love with her over and over again, while Eurydice believes she is simply falling for a mysterious stranger each time. The narrative jumps between time to tell how the characters arrived at this point. The show runs for 45 minutes, tickets are £9.50 (concessions £7.50), and is suitable for ages 12 and over.

Why see this show?

A fresh retelling of a classic myth that flips the central dilemma and explores the consequences. The time-jumping structure keeps the familiar story moving in unexpected directions — new writing with a strong dramatic premise.
